Bruno Donzelli is born on 12th April 1941 in Naples. His marked artistic temperament is revealed precociously with his first personal exhibition in 1962 in Florence. In the mid-1960s the innovations introduced by Pop Art influence substantially the style and the message of his works that are impregnated with ironic density and the structures recover the sense of comics. In the late seventies Donzelli’s attention is oriented to “imaginary sphere” and it is increased by expressionistic dynamism that makes the plant painting more ironic.
In the early seventies, the artist is interested in reinterpretation of pictures extrapolated from the repertoire of our century avant-garde. He analyzes carefully the events and the characters of the art. The result of this study is “Records of art”, the main topic that characterizes the collection of this period.
Since 1980 it starts his profitable series of works called Ormare where it is possible to deduce a new painting matter that is full of thickness and signs. Donzelli realizes this production for over ten years.
Since the 1990s he exhibits his paintings in the most prestigious European Galleries; he makes a lot of Italian and international exhibitions and he takes part to many important artistic expositions. As a result, in the 2004, he wins an internationalization award at Senate House in Milan organized by Ministry of culture.
